Creating and Managing Platform Privacy Policy
What kind of data does your platform track? How do you store it? What do you use it to do? Do you ever share this proprietary information with outside parties? If so, what can users expect?
Your Privacy Policy should explain your company’s data management practices in detail, so users are aware of what you plan to do with records of their activity on your platform.
Much like the last lesson on Creating and Managing Terms and Conditions, this section will deal with four main topics:
- How to create a Privacy Policy. Once you and your legal team have drawn up a Privacy Policy, you can upload and publish it on the platform.
- How to activate a Privacy Policy. An activated Privacy Policy means users will be prompted to agree to the Privacy Policy you’ve created.
- How to translate your Privacy Policy. You can make your Privacy Policy available in different languages.
- How to update a Privacy Policy. As with Terms and Conditions, you can version your Privacy Policy if you decide to change it.
Creating a Platform Privacy Policy
When you’ve finalized drafting your Privacy Policy, you can create it in your platform.
Begin by selecting the gear icon to open the Admin menu.
Choose Privacy Policy, located just under the Settings heading.
Any documents you have generated will appear in list form when this Privacy Policy menu loads.
You’ll be able to title this document, which is helpful in distinguishing it. You can also provide an acceptance message your users will see when the document loads. Press Save and Edit when you’re ready to proceed. You can then add the body content for your Privacy Policy.
When you’re satisfied, activate the Save Changes button on the bottom right.
Need to add a sub-policy? Just press the Add Sub-Policy button and add these provisions, as depicted below.
When you are satisfied with your Policy document and want to preview it, select the Preview option in the menu.
